Independence note: askotto is an independent consumer-information and consultancy publisher. We are not a mobile network, and we are not owned by, partnered with, or endorsed by Three, O2, Sky Mobile, EE, Vodafone or any provider named in these reports. Everything here is general guidance, marked and written by our own reviewers; confirm current details with the network before acting. Our phone and WhatsApp lines reach askotto consultants only — never a network's own customer service.
Section 01
The two magic texts
Keep your numberText PAC to 65075 — the code arrives by return, free, valid 30 days.
Drop the numberText STAC to 75075 — same mechanics, fresh number at the new network.
Any exit costsItemised automatically in the reply text — early-term charges, device balances, everything, before you commit.
The handoverGive the code to the new network; the move completes on their timetable, usually one working day.
Section 02
What the losing network cannot do
Your statutory position
- It cannot refuse the code, delay it, or demand a phone call first.
- It cannot force a 'retention chat' as a condition of leaving.
- It cannot invent fees beyond the itemised reply.
- One household bill (Sky, EE/BT bundles) changes nothing — the PAC works identically.
Section 03
The order of operations
Switch without a gap
- Coverage-check the destination network at your postcode (indoor readings weighted).
- Audition a rolling month on the destination's masts — its budget tenant is the cheap ticket.
- Buy the new plan, then text PAC from the old SIM.
- Hand the code over; keep the old SIM in until the number lands.
- Diary a reminder to confirm the final bill closed at zero.
